Attorney Adam Silva

Experience

Attorney Adam Silva is the founder of the Law Office of Adam Silva.  For the past decade,  Attorney Silva has focused on some of the most complex areas of tax law, first as an Attorney for the Internal Revenue Service's Office of Chief Counsel and most recently with the Tax Controversy Services group at Big Four accounting firm KPMG.  Mr. Silva represents clients before the IRS and advises clients on a broad range of technical and procedural tax issues.  Adam’s practice covers all areas of tax controversy representation before the IRS, IRS Appeals, and other state and local taxing authorities, from penalty abatement and pre-dispute planning, through examination, appeals and post-appellate dispute resolution.  He has represented large corporate clients in the insurance, financial, and technology industries before the IRS, dealing with a host of domestic and international tax issues. Adam helps his clients navigate through the complicated and ever-changing tax laws and assists his clients in planning for their future.   While at the IRS, Adam represented the IRS in litigation proceedings before the United States Tax Court and also evaluated informants as part of his role with the IRS’s Whistleblower Program.  

Education and Background

Adam earned his Bachelor's degree from Providence College and earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Boston College Law School.  He is an admitted member of the Massachusetts Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.  Adam is also a licenced Massachusetts Real Estate Broker.  He is a lifelong resident of Southeastern Massachusetts and resides in Dartmouth with his family.
